It's the early 90's: while the new age movement is growing rapidly, a small shop opens its doors at Kerkstraat 117, Amsterdam: Conscious Dreams.

What starts out as a modest gallery/herbal store within a years time grows out to be an international phenomenon.

This, of course, has everything to do with Conscious Dreams being the first ever shop to sell psychedelic mushrooms over the counter in 1994.

The news spreads quickly all over Amsterdam and in no time long queues of people elbow each other out to get a hold of this mysterious 'flesh of the gods'.

This huge succes does not go by unnoticed and international media throw themselves at the daring concept of the 'smart shop'. It doesn't take long before Conscious Dreams gets compitition and new smartshops shoot out of the ground like they were mushrooms indeed.

Around 150 of these shops are still active today in the Netherlands, despite the aversion of law enforcers and the Dutch justice department.

2006. In the more than 13 years of its existence a lot has changed.

From day one until now a fierce battle about the legal status of psilocybe and psilocybine containing mushrooms is being fought.
Conscious Dreams has managed to grow into a mature orginisation, with a wholesale branch as well as several franchise based stores.

Despite of the continuously roaring times, the concept and mission of the company has never changed: bringing legal psychoactive substances avail;able for a broad public. The philosophy of the company stated that this always should go hand in hand with excellent and extensive product information handed out by people who know what they are talking about.

Knowing this, the company's name was as logical as it was inevitable:
Conscious Dreams, consciously living the different realities.
